The Artist
I have been working in Oils on large canvas for over 40 years, having lived and worked most of my life in various countries, in fact 14 of them, as wide ranging as Canada, USA, Asia, Africa, the Middle east and the South Pacific, and travelled to many more, where I have tried to capture where possible pictures of local cultural and wild life.
Having spent many years in asia, 12 of which have been spent in north Borneo where I now call home. I paint most of my work from my studio at my house on the beach in Sabah.
I want my work to be unique in the fact that I have always tried to capture in contemporary style subjects and surround them with added passion and vigor to give greater depth to the final work.
With a broad use of the palette knife I hope to create in each of my works depth of color and tone that exemplifies an added dimension and passion to reality, an example being Kudat Trawler men, painted from a 2 day experience out in the South China Sea, the painting was conceived at the end of a storm at sea, You will never hear me complain again about the price of fish, as I know what Malaysian Fishermen go through to put food on our table .
I am a passionate conservationist and actively involved with WWF and the Sabah based Kudat Turtle conservation society (KTCS), 5% of my sale proceeds go to WWF, KTCS and or PDK ( mentally disabled children in Kudat).
